Traditional Architectural Language in Jerusalem Around 1920, architects of the British mandate in Jerusalem determined that the new buildings should be built (or clad) in stone. This resolution was adopted by later masterplans and is valid still today. The modern buildings are built in a concrete frame and clad in stone. Consequently, for good or bad, a sort of clad-stone aesthetics has developed among Jerusalemite architects. In our work we try to reflect the traditional architectural language and its stonework logic. |
