Korea Administrative City
(2006 Competition) As part of national decentralization efforts, South Korea launched an International Urban Ideas Competition for a New Administrative City in the Republic of Korea. The site was impressive: a river flowing between mountains and a mild climate. Our proposal suggested an urban process similar of Barcelona, where the expansion of the city absorbed existing hamlets. The proposed grid and grande croisée impair the monumental scale appropriate to an administrative city, and the density allowed for most of the movement to be made by foot of light-rail trains, either within the city or accessing the surrounding nature.
